OUR STORY.

“IF YOU WERE BACK HOME RIGHT NOW, WHO WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE A BEER WITH?”

That was the question that put two homesick Aussies on a flight from New York to Sydney, where they found themselves sitting in the kitchen of Australia's most iconic Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. But they weren't there to have a beer. They were there to ask his blessing to start a beer company.

Halfway through their pitch, Mr Hawke stopped them and asked a question: "Boys. Why is this going to work?"

“Mr Hawke”, they confessed, “this has to work. Not only have we quit our jobs, we've told our boss you've already said yes.”

Bob laughed – “Well, I’d be a bum if I said no, wouldn't I.”

"MR HAWKE, THIS HAS TO WORK. NOT ONLY HAVE WE ALREADY QUIT OUR JOBS, WE'VE TOLD OUR BOSS YOU'VE ALREADY SAID YES."

100% of Bob’s royalties are donated to Landcare Australia.

Bob’s only condition to being a co-founder in Hawke’s was that 100% of his royalties be passed on to Landcare Australia. Which means every Hawke's beer you drink is helping us do our bit for the country he loved.

To date, we’ve raised over $450,000 for the environment, supporting projects all across Australia, from reforesting bushfire affected areas, to protecting some of our most vulnerable native species, to lending a hand to local groups right near our brewery in Sydney’s Inner West.
