Hawke's Hefeweizen

Hawke's Hefeweizen

Characteristics
Fluffy, smooth, banana-ish
ABV: 4.7%
IBU: 12

Start slapping your knees and yodelling to the gods of Bavarian beer. Packed with enough wheat malt to sink a U-boat, our Hefeweizen presents tall and proud with a distinctively large head that whispers, “Do you like bananas?”

To which you reply, “I'm no monkey but go on”, before realising you’re now talking to a beer, so you grab the glass and start ploughing through the Hefeweizen’s soft, smooth and fluffy head before big notes of banana burst onto your palate. Turns out that talking beer was onto something. You do like bananas.

From the Brewer’s Mouth

German tradition dictates Hefeweizens must be made with 50% Wheat Malt, with the overall flavour coming predominantly from the yeast, producing strong esters (banana) and light phenols (clove) and subtle malt sweetness coming from the malts. Low bitterness means the beer is balanced towards sweetness accentuating the yeast and malt characters.
